Description: Taurus 30mm weight plate, Made in Germany
Weight plates "Made in Germany"
The new Taurus Premium weight plates are "Made in Germany" - they are manufactured at ACO Guss in Kaiserslautern. ACO Guss is one of the leading foundries in Europe and already has 100 years of company history, experience and tradition to draw on.
The design of the dumbbells was created in close cooperation between the engineers at the foundry in Kaiserslautern and the design department and management of Fitshop in Schleswig. The advantages of a weight plate which was "Made in Germany" are obvious: shorter transport routes, which is good for the environment and transport costs, better control of the production steps and also an economic benefit to the production location: Germany.
High precision and an elegant, durable finish
Accuracy is important throughout the production process. Therefore, the deviation between nominal and real weight is minimal - it is so small that the discs could even be used for competitions. Of course, only 50 mm weight plates are used in official weight training competitions, but nothing stands in the way of a private test of strength at the highest level.
One of the highlights is certainly the final painting. A process called cathodic dip coating (CDC, or cataphorisis) is used here. An electrochemical reaction is stimulated in an immersion bath, through which an approx. 15-20 micron layer of paint is applied. That's only about a third the thickness of normal human hair. Incidentally, this painting technique is also used in the manufacture of cars to protect against rust. The method has a high efficiency, i.e. it delivers the best result with little effort This saves costs and protects the environment.
A combination of human and machine power for the final touch
Of course, a large part of production runs automatically these days. State-of-the-art production facilities are used for this. Production in certified facilities is continuously controlled and monitored using the latest computer systems.
However, there is one thing neither machines nor computers can replace: human experience. The ACO foundry has 100 years of experience and tradition and maintains the highest quality standards. And so not only is every work step monitored by watchful eyes, but at the end of production - during the fine tuning - they are even taken in hand once again.
Last but not least: Sustainability
By bringing production back to Germany, the long transport routes from the factories in Asia are no longer necessary. This omission of transport routes – well over 10,000 km – can also be seen as a CO2-saving measure. In addition, the production facilities of ACO Guss in Kaiserslautern are ISO 50001 certified. The internationally valid standard confirms the company's consistent application of measures to improve energy efficiency.
